Journalism Contest

Writing articles about NI4D is a great way to help promote and popularize NI4D.  Senator Gravel has offered to help this along by kindly offering the incentive of a personally autographed edition of his recent Citizen Power book to the person who writes the best article. In addition, we are collecting money to serve as a jackpot (right side).

To enter the contest, the author of a published news article shall submit the URL of the article or if it's in print, where it was published, to news@demofound.us. (If a suitable publication venue is not forthcoming then authors may also choose to submit a finished manuscript for publication directly on the NI4D website.)

Submissions will be accepted until the end of a calendar quarter and at least five submissions by different authors, meaning that if we don't have five different authors, the voting will be postponed until we do.

A given article is eligible for inclusion in a single contest as determined by publication date. Articles published in 2009 and later are eligible.

Suggested criteria for judging:

• National ballot initiatives (if not the specific NI4D proposal) must be promoted.
• Does it explain the most innovative features of NI4D?
• How widely published? (e.g., New York Times vs. Oregon Daily Emerald)
• Well researched? Creative, original arguments and metaphors?
• Is it a new author who has never published an article on NI4D before?

The winner will be decided by Instant Runoff Voting (a.k.a. Ranked Choice Voting). Voting will commence after the election announcement goes out in the regular newsletter.
